Anstey Mills Cottage is a Grade II listed retreat set in the heart of Exmoor, North Devon, forming the end of an original Devon Longhouse. Traditional beams, stone and slate give it real character, while a 2010 refurbishment brought in every modern comfort. Spacious yet cosy, it sleeps six plus a child across three bedrooms, with a wood-burning stove, a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen, and a large semi-enclosed garden. Stargazing guide
The cottage sits within Exmoor National Park, which in 2011 became Europe's first International Dark Sky Reserve, home to some of the darkest skies in the UK. On a clear night you can step outside into the garden and see the Milky Way stretch overhead, along with countless stars, planets and meteor showers that light pollution hides elsewhere. The cottage provides a Dark Skies pocket guide and binoculars, and the peace and remoteness that make Anstey Mills such a restful place are exactly what make it so special for looking up.
