Quabbs Cabin

Quabbs Cabin is a hand-built, off-grid-in-spirit eco cabin for two, tucked into its own secluded glade on a working sheep farm at Rhos-y-Meirch near Knighton, in the rolling hills of the Welsh borders (Powys). Designed and built by owners Paul and Steph MacDonald from local and reclaimed materials, it's a romantic bolthole with a wraparound porch and sun deck offering a different view from every window, out toward Cwm Whitton Hill, Offa's Dyke and the Radnor Forest. Inside, a vaulted ceiling and hand-hewn beams sit above a log burner, a squashy sofa, a handcrafted bed dressed in linen, a freestanding copper bath and a rainfall shower. Outside there's a wood-fired hot tub, fire pit, hammocks in the orchard and an enclosed garden so dogs can roam. Thoughtful host touches abound, from a forgotten-essentials basket to farm eggs and homemade toiletries.
