Castle Cottage

Castle Cottage is a two-bedroom, single-storey self-catering holiday cottage set deep within Kielder Forest Park in Northumberland, one of the darkest and most star-filled corners of England. Just 2.5 miles from the award-winning Kielder Observatory and surrounded by the forest's famous dark skies, it makes an idyllic base for stargazing, with peaceful nights and spectacular views overhead once the sun goes down. Over 200 years old and originally part of the Duke of Northumberland's stable block, the cottage comfortably sleeps four to five guests, with a king-size master bedroom, a second bedroom with a double bed, and a folding single guest bed available on request. Two well-behaved dogs are also welcome. The cosy interior includes a lounge with a wood-burning stove, Smart TV and high-speed broadband, a well-equipped kitchen and dining room, and a bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. Outside, guests have a fully enclosed private rear garden with a summer house and garden furniture, ideal for settling in under the stars, along with secure bike storage and off-road parking for two to three vehicles. Red squirrels, roe deer and a variety of birds are regular visitors, and the surrounding forest offers walking, cycling, watersports and three visitor centres, with Kielder Village and the local pub within a mile.
