The Dalesbred

The Dalesbred is Hollow Gill Huts' intimate, adults-only shepherd's hut, a couples' retreat for two on a working beef and sheep farm at Rathmell, near Settle, on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Handmade in the UK, it's nestled away behind its own dry-stone wall with mature woodland to the back and open countryside views to the front, giving it complete privacy from the other huts. Inside there's a sumptuous double bed positioned by a large window to wake up to the view, a small sofa, a cosy log burner and underfloor heating for chilly evenings, a handmade kitchenette with everything you need for self-catering, and a modern en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower. Outside, a private patio with table and chairs and a firepit are made for slow evenings toasting marshmallows under the stars, with hardwood logs supplied fresh from the farm. Smart TV, fast WiFi and strong mobile signal are all included, though the farm is just as good for a proper digital detox. Looking out across grazing sheep and cattle to the rolling dales, with Pen-y-ghent and Ingleborough on the far horizon, it's a peaceful base for couples or solo travellers exploring the Dales. Dogs aren't allowed inside but kennels are available at the farm.
