Woodpecker Hill

Woodpecker Hill is a luxury oak shepherd's hut tucked into an apple orchard above the River Cuckmere, one of three on a peaceful East Sussex site. Named for the woodpeckers that work the surrounding trees, it's a fully fitted countryside escape for two, with a king size bed that folds away to free up the living space, a hot shower, flushing toilet, heating, and a small kitchen kitted out with everything from an induction hob to a cafetiere. Step outside to a firepit, picnic table and seating framing the Cuckmere valley. Dogs are welcome, parking is free with an EV charger on hand, and contact-free self check-in means an easy, unhurried arrival. Days here are all birdsong and wide skies, with foxes, herons and swans for company, and a Spitfire overhead if you're lucky. This is the hut featured in the site's video tour, so the interior layout can be previewed before arrival. No hot tub currently (that's Robins Retreat only).
