Overview
Coachingman's Cottage is a luxurious restoration of a traditional Welsh stone cottage in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, in the village of Trecastle between Sennybridge and Brecon. Sleeping four across two bedrooms and dog-friendly throughout, it's an inviting home-away-from-home for couples, families or friends, finished with real attention to detail. Inside, a cosy log burner, WiFi and a well-equipped kitchen make it easy to settle in, while the friendly Castle Coaching Inn is just a short walk away for a pint and a meal. The village sits in spectacular walking and mountain-biking country, with the River Usk running alongside for fishing and kayaking, the atmospheric motte and bailey of the old castle to explore, and Usk Reservoir and the glacial lake of Llyn y Fan Fach within easy reach. A sister cottage, Tyn Y Coed, lies two miles away and sleeps six if you need more space.

Stargazing guide
Coachingman's Cottage sits within the Brecon Beacons International Dark Sky Reserve, and Trecastle is one of the best-placed villages in it for stargazing. Two of the reserve's finest official dark-sky sites are on the doorstep: Usk Reservoir, an official Dark Sky Reserve location with wide open skies and easy parking, is about fifteen minutes away, and Crai Reservoir, voted among the top ten spots to view the dark skies, is roughly two miles off. Step into the cottage garden on a clear, moonless night and the stars come out in force; for the full effect, take a short drive to the reservoirs, set up away from the car, and let your eyes adjust to see the Milky Way, constellations and, in season, meteor showers with the naked eye.
